School Education Program – New South Wales

Sydney hosted its first School Education Program on 10 April at the Ken Rosewell Arena.

The program was first launched over a decade ago at Melbourne Park (home of the Australian Open), and since over 8,300 primary school students have participated in the program across Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales.

Over 200 year 6 primary school students from Liverpool, Parramatta, Merrylands, and Condell Park participated in the pathway program which aims to make a positive impact on young people and effectively build sustainable communities across Australia through program experience.

These primary schools visited Ken Rosewell Arena for the first time and provided priority of access to some of the most disadvantaged students within the state.

Children engaged and developed a sound understanding of diversity through interaction, embraced social cohesion, benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through sport and the values of mateship through the ANZAC spirit.

Youth of Tomorrow celebrated their 10th Anniversary in 2017 by launching the School Education Program at Pat Rafter Arena in conjunction with Tennis Queensland, Minister for Education and Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Commonwealth Games, City of Gold Coast, Redland City Council, Logan City Council, Ipswich City Council and the Republic of Turkey.

The program provides opportunities for diversity and social inclusion through education and these platforms form the foundations of self-confidence and growth for youth in Queensland to be able to lead tomorrow.

Up to 250 year 6 primary school students participated in the program from Queensland.

Commemorative education presentation (presented by Mates4Mates)
Tour of Pat Rafter Arena

Every component of the program benefits local students and the community. It brings further insight into the commemorative anniversary and sacrifices made by the Anzacs through sport and education.

The School Education Program was introduced to year 6 primary school students promoting diversity, social cohesion, a healthy lifestyle and camaraderie through the ANZAC legend.

The program was first launched in 2008 at Melbourne Park (home of the Australian Open) and designed as a full day of rotational activities which allow primary school students to interact with students from other schools.

Activities include:

Commemorative education presentation (Presented by RSL Victoria)
Tour of the Rod Laver Arena
Tennis activities
Students become spectators at the Gallipoli Youth Cup tournament

Since launching, up to 8,100 primary school children have participated in the program and continues to be one of the leading educational programs in Australia.
