Youth of Tomorrow partners with the Commonwealth Bank Wynyard Branch to kick start the Adopt a School Program Fund which supports disadvantaged schools in Australia.
The Adopt a School Program is a new fund commissioned by Youth of Tomorrow to support disadvantaged primary schools attending the annual Schools Future-Fit Program – Flagship Events in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Developed as part of Youth of Tomorrow’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the fund provides inclusive and equitable quality education for all students in Australia.
Wimbledon Champion and Patron Pat Cash supports the initiative because the fund enables opportunities for disadvantaged schools.
“We need to be able to support schools who want to attend the program but are limited financially. The fund supports disadvantaged schools, so they get the same equitable quality education regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds,” Pat Cash said.
The CommBank Local Community Donation has been allocated to disadvantaged schools in New South Wales to attend the Flagship Event at Ken Rosewall Arena on 1 April 2020.
The free Flagship Events promote the national Schools Future-Fit Program in social inclusion and diversity, physical health, mental wellbeing, gender equality and sustainability. The national program is also linked to the Australian Curriculum and aims to reduce youth related issues identified by the Australian Human Rights Commission.
“This fund gets more students out to the program venues and also supports our national commitment to delivering quality education,” Cash said.
Since 2008, the annual Flagship Events have been delivered at Melbourne Park, Victoria, Pat Rafter Arena, Queensland and Ken Rosewall Arena, New South Wales and has supported over 9000 students and teachers in attendance.
The Flagship Events will be expanding nationally over the coming years to support youth with comprehensive life education programs in the 21st century.
